Hot Toys DX11 Joker 2.0 Exclusive has finally arrived!!!

A couple of months after the figure was actually released in Hong Kong, the DX11 Joker 2.0 finally started shipping from Sideshow Collectibles. I had preordered the exclusive version, which appeared to be those that were first to be shipped by Sideshow. And what an AMAZING figure it is!!!

The contents of this DX package is what sets it above most other figures, including some recent other DX figure releases. The 1989 Joker and Batman DX figures, whilst awesome figures in their own right, really didnt feel like DX packages to me. But here with DX11, you get an amazing array of accessories and diorama pieces that will really set your geek juices going!!

The diorama setup for the interrogation room is just as good, if not better, than the DX07 Luke weather vane setup! It is simply an amazing accessory of the high quality. As for the figure itself, the quality of the tailoring, cut and finish of all the layers is exceptional.

Either displayed alone or with either the DX12 Batman or DX08 Joker, the figure just stands out amongst other figures.

Takara MP-15/MP-16 Masterpiece Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, and Buzzsaw

Finally received my MP-15/MP-16 order from Robotkingdom yesterday! They are AWESOME!!!

This time I actually received the coin collectibles that you can see at the bottom of the pic. Definite shame they didnt send me the coin for MP-13 Soundwave last time!

Anyway, the figures themselves are engineering marvels just like Laserbeak before them. Ravage and the boys have simple yet elegant transformations. With Ravage, they were able to integrate his weapons into the figure itself like Laserbeak. With Rumble and Frenzy, the weapons are add-ons, but still look great.

Here are all the minions with their master :)

I've got a link to the Kool Kollectibles youtube channel and the video review for these sets. The transformations are shown so check it out if you're interested!! :)

MP-19 will be Smokescreen, but actual pictures havent been released for that yet. I assume this is because the mold will have more modifications from the base mold for Prowl and Bluestreak. I've already pre-ordered all three from RK myself!

Can't wait to get them around August/September!! The Masterpiece line is definitely having its best year ever in 2013!!

Masters of the Universe Classics!!!

Well, after sitting on the fence about this line for about 2 years, I finally caved and made my first order of the Masters of the Universe Classics figures. And once I got them, I realised how stupid I had been for 2 years waiting this long!!! My mission was to get as many of the key characters from the very first episode of MOTU, and so I picked up He-Man, Battle Cat, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, Mer-Man, Trap Jaw, and Evil-Lyn. I also ended up getting my other favourites Hordak and She-Ra.

But then you might ask, so where is Beast Man, Tri-Klops, Teela, and Sorceress? You know how I said I waited 2 years. Well, these 4 are some of the rarer MOTUC figures, and are now commanding some ridiculous prices on ebay. Teela and Sorceress are topping $150 dollars now at recent auctions I've watched, and Beast Man just today ended at auction on $142!! And that's not including shipping!!! So for 7" figures, these prices are pretty crazy. The figures I got were all in the range of $30 - $40, so much more reasonable. The four I mentioned are certainly gaping holes in the collection, so I'll definitely try to get at least Teela, Beast Man, and Tr-Klops somehow at semi reasonable prices. Will just have to see how I go. But onto the figures I did get, and WOW!!! These figures are AWESOME!! I totally get why Hasbro is now branching the Star Wars figure line into the 6-7" realm, and if they end up anything as good as these MOTUC figures, many fans will be well pleased!!!

When I got the NECA Street Fighter 4 figures and the recent Playmates TMNT Classic Collection figures, I thought they were amazing with all the articulation. And these MOTUC figures are every bit as good. They all come super-articulated, and are mostly stacked with accessories! Some like Trap Jaw, Mer-Man, and Man-at-Arms came with alternate headsculpts, all have their assortment of weapons, and the overall quality is top-notch!

When displayed together, these figures simply look amazing. From the great paint apps to Battle Cat, Man-at-Arms, Hordak, and Mer-Man, to the way in which He-Man can now do his iconic pose, to the amazing staffs and other weapon accessories, these figures just bring back so many great memories of watching the 80s cartoon as a kid. I do have to say the way in which they package these figures tends to bend the accessories a little, and it is hard to get them to straighten out, but other than that and the odd minor paint blemish, I can't recommend these figures enough!

So like me, if you've been sitting on the fence about these figures, JUMP OFF NOW!!! Get online and buy before the prices of all of them start going crazy. Right now, only a handful are commanding silly prices, but unfortunately for me, most are the ones I want! Either way, definitely check them out if you were ever a fan of the cartoon or the original figures, cos they really are great. Here's a quick rundown of the figures on my youtube channel too!

Thanks for reading and watching! Hope you can all check out the Facebook page and the youtube channel too! Talk soon! :)

MP-13 Soundwave & Laserbeak quick review

Hey all, Khai here again for a consolidated review of the new Takara Transformers Masterpiece MP-13 Soundwave figure. First up, Soundwave has always been a huge fan favourite, so this guy is selling out quick at pretty much all retailers. You can order this from places such as Robot Kingdom, Big Bad Toy Store, TFSource or even ebay sellers. But you really have to be quick because it's selling out quick!

I preordered this back in Aug 2012 from Robot Kingdom purely so that I could get the Amazon Japan exclusive. At the time, the exclusive was being touted as an energon cube, where the regular version had no cube. But as it turned out, the regular release came with the energon cube, and the Amazon JP exclusive was simply an extra two cubes! Not really worth the extra price, considering a lot of regular releases were being shipped with a nice collectible coin featuring Soundwave's mug! I would've preferred that over 2 extra cubes.

But anyway, onto the figure!! Now with MP-13, where do you start? The main attraction being Soundwave, or the stealer of the show Laserbeak? :) I have to say, Laserbeak is an absolute engineering marvel!

Laserbeak's transformation is elegant, simple, and yet so effective. The original G1 toy is exactly the same size in cassette mode, and yet required separate removable pieces for the cannons in flight mode. But this new masterpiece truly is that, with fully integrated weapons in the transformation. He really is the star of this MP-13 package.

That's not to say Soundwave himself is bad! He is of course an amazing figure! In doing this review, I realised I had not taken a picture of him in his classic boombox alt mode. You can see that in my video review that I'll post a link to below. It is every bit the G1 classic you remember!

In bot mode, Soundwave looks incredible. The headsculpt itself is worthy of the masterpiece tag alone in my book! And of course this is the first G1 Soundwave that can finally move his arm and hand to press his eject button! The articulation is fantastic.

Transformation wise, MP13 sits along side MP-8 Grimlock, MP-10 Optimus, and MP-12 Sideswipe as those Masterpiece figures with simple, elegant, and not overlay complicated transformations that are enjoyable to do! Others in the line such as MP-9 Rodimus and MP-11 Starscream have transformations that are either overly complicated, frustrating, or just so damn hard to do that you're always afraid something is going to break! Not with Soundwave.

In summary, if you're on the fence about getting MP-13 Soundwave, just hop onto the bandwagon purely for Laserbeak alone! He looks amazing on display either alone or with his other Masterpiece brethren! So go out and get him while you can! He will surely be one piece that will maintain demand for years to come!

Here are links to my youtube vid reviews of the MP-13 package. Hope you can check them out too!

I was out gettin quotes on garden sheds, and it just so happened one place had a Toys'R'Us next door. So I couldnt help dropping in for a quick look around the toy isles. And it turned out they had a sale on the TMNT Classic Collection figures for under $20. So it was an instant buy for me :) Here's a few pics! :)

MP-13 Laserbeak: The engineering marvel

Here's a quick look at the transformation of Laserbeak, and a comparison against the vintage G1 figure. The designers at Takara need a medal for this simple, elegant, and AWESOME design!

Quick review MP-12 Sideswipe

Hey all, here's a very quick review on MP-12 Sideswipe. Sorry, I tried to transform on camera, but I was just too clumsy! I tried, but it was too hard :) Sorry!! Hope this at least gives you a quick look at the figure!

Review - Sideshow Bossk

Just received the new Sideshow Bossk figure today!! And it's an awesome figure to go with Boba and IG-88. Check out the vid review :)

Post-Xmas sale goodie!!! eFX Stormtrooper helmet

They say you always find a bargain at the post-Christmas sales, and this year I certainly did!! I missed out on the eFX Collectibles sale that they did directly on their website. But wandering around my local shopping centre, there were a couple of nice collectibles stores that both had quite a few of these on sale (brand new!!). So I just had to pick it up :)

Late pickup - Sideshow Commander Ganch

The SW Celebration exclusive was hard to find, but amazingly Sideshow brought in new stock in Dec. So I managed to pick this up just before Xmas :)

Premature end of 2012 collection vid :)

I posted this vid as an end of year collection vid, but that turned out to be pretty silly since I did pick up a few more items before the end of 2012. But still a good overview of the collection to that point :)

Review - Hot Toys DX10 T-800 Terminator

There was lots of controversy with this figure, particularly around the headsculpt. But in hand, I gotta say this is a great figure. The leather outfit and the accessories are really nice. At first it wasnt all that nice, but then after posing and playing around with it, it damn well grows on you!! Now I love it, and cant wait for DX13 to sit beside it in the cabinet!!

Review - Hot Toys DX12 Batman

This is hands down one of Hot Toys' best figures ever. The technology used for the costume, the headsculpt, the accessories, even the stand - everything is AMAZING!! Cant wait for DX11 Joker to pair up with this bad boy!!

Review - Hot Toys DX07 Luke Skywalker

This was one of my most anticipated figures for 2012, and Hot Toys did not disappoint!! This is one of the best value packages that they have ever done, and probably ever will do. Just the diorama piece alone made it worth it!! :)

G1 Vintage Transformers!

Got a call from my parents to come and clear out the crap from their house. And what do I find!?!? A few boxes full of my original G1 vintage Transformers!! Bless my parents for not throwing them in the garbage!!!! :)

Sideshow Sandtrooper (Desert Sands Detachment)

I was a bit late in picking up the Sideshow Sandtrooper (Desert Sands Detachment), but was so glad I did. It really is a fantastic representation, and the best I reckon so far in 1/6th scale.

First group of Sideshow Clone Commanders

I was a loyalist to the Original Trilogy, and swore to never buy a prequel trilogy toy. Until I kept hearing about how awesome the Sideshow Clone Troopers and Commanders were!!! So after much to-ing and fro-ing, I picked up my first 5 commanders :)

Masterpiece MP-9 Rodimus v2

Found a retailer selling the version 2 of the MP-9 Rodimus that fixed a number of QC issues with the initial release. Still a damn pain in the arse to transform, but looks great in bot mode.

moggie and waynesbutler POSE OFF!!!

A few of the more wellknown youtube collectors in the community kicked off a pose off competition, and here was my entry :) It was just great to talk to other collectors around the world, and share some awesome poses!! I definitely stole plenty from the community :)

Added Masterpiece Grimlock to the collection

Finally found a decent price for the Takara Masterpiece Grimlock figure. Definitely glad to have him in the collection!!

Review - Sideshow Boba Fett

My first 1/6th scale Star Wars figure turned out to be the iconic Bounty Hunter Boba Fett by Sideshow Collectibles. Here's the quick vid review!

First Transformers Masterpiece video!

Grew up watching and playing with the G1 Transformers, so they've always been a big part of who I am. Finally decided to dive into the Takara line of Masterpiece figures, and havent stopped since :)

First Hot Toys video

Here's my first video showing the Hot Toys figures I started collecting. I posted this video after I finally got the Detolf cases to display them!!
