Takara Unite Warriors UW-02 Menasor

Takara released their second set in the Unite Warriors line with UW-02 Menasor. As always, overall the Takara paint app is far better than their Hasbro counterparts. But nothing will save a bad design, and the hips on the combined mode Menasor are still rediculous resulting in a body way out of proportion!

The packaging art is great as it was with Superion too. The Stunticons here really do shine most when they are in their individual modes, especially alt modes.

But combined together, the body proportions pretty much ruin everything. I think Superion looks far better in every way!

One way to really enhance the Combiner Wars / Unite Warriors figures is definitely with the Perfect Effect upgrade sets! The hands and feet sets for Superion and Menasor are fantastic!

Star Wars 6" Black Series collection to date

Recently I started thinking about whether I should sell my Star Wars 6" Black Series figures. But it's the only Star Wars line that I've been able to start from the very beginning and be able to get all of them to date.

And seeing them all together like this is pretty cool. So I'll probably keep them despite a huge focus on 1/6th scale Star Wars this year. Hopefully the budget can continue to support both :)

Transformers Masterpiece - "Masterpiece Moments"

It's been a while since I went through my Transformers Masterpiece collection, and Maz from the TFSource forum inspired me with his term "Masterpiece Moment" to get my collection together.

Transformers Masterpiece MP-11SW

Finally got another MP Seeker in recently with the Hasbro Asia exclusive release of MP-11SW Skywarp. Overall, a great addition to the MP cast with another core Decepticon from Season 1 of the classic cartoon. There are some minor nitpicks of mine though.

Takara MP-8X King Grimlock reissue (2nd production run) with Throne is finally here!!

Hey all, it's been a long time since I've wished for MP-8X King Grimlock to be in my collection. I just wasn't willing to pay the ridiculous prices on ebay for the figure. So when it was announced that a second production run re-issue was going to be done, I was ecstatic!

And now I have it, and it's pretty damn awesome! There are a couple of things to disappoint me though, so click on the video to watch the full review and find out all the details :)

Vintage G1 Transformers Retrospectives

It's the 30th anniversary of Transformers this year, so I thought I'd join in the celebration by doing some retrospective videos on the vintage G1 Transformers figures that I still have.

Back in 1984, my grandfather bought my brother and I our first Transformers toys for Christmas, which started my love of Transformers ever since. After I moved out of home, I had packed all the toys into several boxes and left them at my parents house. About 10 years later after I had built my new place with my family, I got a call from my parents saying it was probably time for me to move my crap out of their place! :)

And lo and behold, the boxes I had packed and forgotten about were still there! Thankfully my parents hadn't thrown anything out, and the Transformers I had packed away were all still there waiting to get some much needed fresh air!

I initially thought about selling them, but once I started looking over them more closely, I couldn't just throw away all that nostalgia and memories about my grandfather helping us put the stickers on, and opening them up on Christmas Day! And now that I'm going through them now, and playing with them with my son, I'm definitely glad I kept them.

So here's my first retrospective video on Optimus Prime, definitely one of the most iconic toys from the 80s era. This was actually my brother's first Transformers toy, but luckily it fell to me to look after it :)

And here's my second video, this time of my own first Transformer. Soundwave and his cassettes are a little worse for wear, but I love these guys so much! My affection for these grew even more when the Masterpiece versions were released, and I could see in hand the amazing transition from the iconic toys of the 80s to the engineering marvels of today!
